Every day is different and adapted to meet the needs of our clients.
Morning calls typically involve assisting with making breakfast, medication administration and domestic housework. Assistance with personal care/incontinence care and getting dressed for the day depending on the clients support needs, some will only need encouragement or prompting.
Lunch calls can vary from more for preparation and medication administration, to companionship, domestic support, attending appointments or outings. Outings are decided by the individual it could be supporting them with their shopping, going for a meal or a stroll round a park.
Companionship is a very big part of supporting individuals with mental health, being supportive, understanding, compassionate, caring, empathetic, non-judgemental and a sounding board for them on their best and worst days. This helps build trust and can help identify what they really need support within that moment in time, so we can help them to live the life that they choose.
Some of our clients might need support to make phone calls to book appointments or to help sort utilities for example, maintenance on their boiler or setting up direct debits for billing.
Dinner and Bed calls can be much the same as morning calls but in reverse. Supporting with food preparation, medication administration, domestic support, personal care/incontinence care (if needed) and getting ready for bed.
All staff receive 3 days of induction training, e-learning that is tailored to our clients needs and the Mental health disorders you may come across, this is then accompanied by 2 weeks of shadowing with an experienced member of staff.
